Ground source heat pump (GSHP) units are used in low enthalpy geothermal systems which exploit the temperature difference between the environment and the ground in order to exchange heat. In the winter, these electrically powered devices pump heat from the ground and transfer it to the building, for heating. Conversely, in the summer, they extract heat from inside the building (for cooling) and transfer it back to the ground. The heat is transferred in a fluid running inside geothermal loop fields consisting of U-shaped tubings that run in the ground. Proper annular seal of the loop field is key to ensure good system performance and maintain good thermal conductivity. Our BINDERTHERM blend, specially formulated for geothermal wells, features high heat conductivity, good plasticity, low shrinkage, and high waterproofing property. Many geothermal loop fields are filled with our BINDERTHERM product.
